Boulder Canyon Compostable Packaging

Boulder Canyon has been creating a lot of buzz lately thanks to its new compostable packaging. The compostable bags are produced from wood pulp, sourced from managed plantations. Unlike corn and starch-based compostable bags, the wood pulp mitigates any potential negative impact on existing food supplies. Similarly, the material has the same energy value as wood and can be safely disposed of in modern incineration plants to recover the energy value.

It also creates a more enjoyable snacking experience than other compostable packaging because it sounds much like our normal packaging when opened. Because of this, Fast Company mentioned Boulder Canyon as an alternative to Sun Chips’ noisy compostable packaging. Not only is it quieter, it also biodegrades much faster, as seen in a comparison in The Inspired Economist.
